Just Doing My Part To Save The Planet

I do not like this Uncle Sam,
I do not like his health care scam.
I do not like these dirty crooks,
or how they lie and cook the books.
I do not like when Congress steals,
I do not like their secret deals.
I do not like this speaker Nan ,
I do not like this 'YES, WE CAN'.
I do not like this spending spree---
I'm smart, I know that nothing's free.
I do not like your smug replies,
when I complain about your lies.
I do not like this change and hope.
I do not like it. nope, nope, nope!
Go green -
recycle Congress in 2010!

I received this in an email from my Uncle Mark.  Apparently it has been in circulation for a while at places such as

George and George

 From the Deleware official website is this:

Little Known Facts about the American Revolutionary War

King George almost abdicated the throne when the British lost!
      After Yorktown, George III vowed to keep fighting. When parliament demurred, the King wrote a letter of abdication -- then withdrew it. He tried to console himself with the thought that Washington would become a dictator and make the Americans long for royal rule. When he was told that Washington planned to resign his commission, the monarch gasped: "If he does that, sir, he will be the greatest man in the world."

I Knew They Would Come For My Kind

School Teacher Arrested

A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, the Attorney General said he believes " the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement. " He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction. Read the whole story here

Wisdom, Portals and Abomination

Sometimes children pick up phrases and words
that you do not really want them using
at the neighbor's house or in Sunday School.

During our devotions tonight, my daughter was reading the beginning of Proverbs 8. When she finished she had some questions about some of the words.

"What are Portals?"
"What does Prudence mean?"
"What does Abomination mean?"

After hearing us explain the meanings she made this statement:
"I thought Abomination was the name of our government."
No, dear, that is Obama Nation.

The Blessings of Wisdom

Does not wisdom call?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
On the heights beside the way,
at the crossroads she takes her stand;
beside the gates in front of the town,
at the entrance of the portals she cries aloud:
“To you, O men, I call,
and my cry is to the children of man.
O simple ones, learn prudence;
O fools, learn sense.
Hear, for I will speak noble things,
and from my lips will come what is right,
for my mouth will utter truth;
wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
All the words of my mouth are righteous;
there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.
(Proverbs 8:1-8)

Only for the Moral

"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." John Adams from his Oct. 13, 1789 address to the military.

The Obama Effect on Test Scores

The Obama Effect
NEA Today, May 2009

There's no doubt that the new President could help close the achievement gap in this country though the pursuit of sensible federal policies to support students and teachers. But a recent study, not yet published, suggests that his election alone--notwithstanding anything he might actually do as President--already has helped.

During the study, researchers gave a 20-question test to 472 Black and White test-takers. Before the election, there was a significant gap in scores. Immediately after, it was "statistically nonsignificant." "Obama is obviously inspirational," one of the researchers told The New York Times, and yet even they were surprised...

Wow! The One is truly amazing. Guess we don't need educational reform. President Obama has already solved the achievement gap problem. Maybe if patients touch the hem of his suit, we would solve the health care crisis also.

Do I even need to mention the statistical problems rife within this article? "Recent" study? Not yet published? Immediately? Significant versus statistically nonsignificant? This is the NEA's PROFESSIONAL journal.

Blasphemy

Who approved this? I taking a wild leap here... Barack H. Obama did!

I just keep thinking, Matthew 24!!

3 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. 5 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Height Compensation?

In a Telegraph News article from the UK:

The White House denied that the president bowed during a meeting on the sidelines of the London conference, though photographs show Mr Obama at least stooped significantly before the 84-year-old monarch.

"It wasn't a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he's taller than King Abdullah," an Obama aide said.

What, no height compensation with the queen? She has to be shorter than the King of Saudi!
